BAKED HAM

I have been craving for ham for days. I finally gave in and went to the market to buy the smallest ham I can get. I used maple syrup, brown sugar and pineapple juice for the glaze. It turned out sweet and juicy. Our house smelled like it is the holidays already! My husband loved it and we have enough left-overs for ham sandwiches and potato ham soup to last us for a week!

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup maple syrup
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup ginger ale
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1 (10 lb) bone in ham
1 can pineapple slices

Directions:

  1. Mix the maple syrup, pineapple juice, ginger ale, brown sugar and honey in a bowl.

  2. Score the outer edge of the ham with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern. Cuts should be about 1/4 inch deep to allow the juice to soak up the juice.

  3. Place the ham in an oven bag, and carefully pour the juice mixture over it. Place the pineapple slices on top of the ham and secure with toothpicks. Tie the end of the bag with the ties provided then cut a few small slits in the top of the oven bag.

  4. Place in a large roasting pan and bake in the pre-heated oven for two hours. The internal temperature should be 160 degrees F when done. Let the ham rest for 10 minutes before carving.
